Theo began his journey as a bus driver in Highline nearly eight years ago. He has driven nearly every route in Highline, interacting with and making an impact on thousands of students.
As a refugee from Cambodia, Rann began her journey in Highline as a student at Evergreen High School. Fast forward 36 years, Rann is a bilingual paraeducator at Mount View Elementary and supports families and students with the same compassion and zest as she did when she first started.
Teacher Ari Rodriguez spent two years working as a bilingual paraeducator in Highline while pursuing her teaching certificate through the Bilingual Teaching Fellows program. As a dual language teacher at White Center Heights Elementary School, Ari has found her home.
After spending time in the US Army, Joe Bourgeois found himself working as a school resource officer. It was interacting with students that inspired him to become an educator. Now in his 11th year working in Highline, Joe teaches more than math at Sylvester Middle School; he is educating young people to be their best selves.
Joanna Rodriguez developed a passion for marine biology at a young age. After learning the field has very few people of color she was inspired to work toward making the next generation of marine biologists more diverse. As a founding teacher at Maritime High School, Joanna is delivering on her commitment to give her students equitable access to college opportunities and careers in and around the water.

The single most important driver of student achievement is an excellent teacher in the classroom. Highline is in the top 12 out of 295 Washington districts in the number of National Board Certified Teachers.
Highline has 18 elementary schools, 5 middle schools, and 4 comprehensive high schools serving neighborhoods in Burien, Des Moines, Normandy Park, SeaTac and White Center. Families may also want to explore our 7 choice schools or multiple alternative education options.
Highline's graduation rate has been on a steady rise for the past 7 years. The on-time graduation rate for the Class of 2021 was 83.5%. That's an increase of 21 point rise since 2013.
