Additional Information: This 1.0 GLEA position will be located .5 at White Center Heights Elementary
and .5 at Mt. View Elementary. The selected individual:
Will work with children and their families Birth-3 yrs;
Will be responsible for communicating with various stakeholders including
community partners and district admin
Is responsible for planning, coordinating, and facilitating, events for GLEA
Preferred: Knowledge of early childhood development necessary, experience in
family engagement, bilingual language skills

The family liaison serves as a bridge between the school/school district and students’ family. This position works with schools and families to develop a welcoming climate in the schools, develops and leads family engagement strategies and activities. The position collaborates with school administration and staff as well as families to identify and develop family engagement strategies that promote student academic success. The family liaison supports growth and learning around family engagement best practices to school staff and families.

Highline Public Schools serves approximately 19,000 students in the communities of Burien, Des Moines, Normandy Park, SeaTac, and White Center in Washington State. In 2013, parents, students, community members, and staff at all levels of the district came together to develop a strategic plan that reflects our goals and dreams for our students. The plan was updated in 2018 to guide our work through 2023. AA degree or High school diploma (or equivalent) and 72 college credits or High school diploma (or equivalent) and at least 5 years of experience in family/community engagement

Experience working with diverse families Understanding of United States educational system Bilingual TESTING REQUIREMENT: Score of "Intermediate-High" or higher on the Oral Proficiency Interview in the target language, based on the ACTFL standards
