SUMMARY:
This position provides auditory and vision screening and rescreening for students according to state guidelines. This is a temporary position based on school scheduling needs and may vary in the days and times needed each day. This position provides lists of students screened with screening results and audiograms and vision results for all students tested to the school nurses; assist with recording screening results on student health records; maintain records of screenings and testing’s; maintain hearing equipment; work cooperatively with other district staff during school screening activities; and perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Health Services Facilitator.

CONTEXT AND MISSION:
Highline Public Schools serves approximately 19,000 students in the communities of Burien, Des Moines, Normandy Park, SeaTac, Boulevard Park and White Center Heights in Washington State. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. - Provide auditory and vision screening for students according to guidelines in WACs and current policies for the school district and Health Services Department. - Follows direction of the school nurse at each school for timing and screening procedures to best meet the needs of each school screening needs. - Rescreen all students who fail initial auditory screening, within time guidelines in WACs and current policies of the school district and Health Services Department as re quested by Health and Social Services Director. - Test with complete audiograms all students who fail initial and repeat screening, according to guidelines in WACs and current policies of the school district and Health Services Department. - Provide to the school nurse the following information for appropriate follow-up: o Lists of students screened with screening results; o Audiograms and visual screening results for all students tested.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
: Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent 1 year practical experience in audiometric work Must be able to work a flexible schedule as needed for the district hearing program

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:

KNOWLEDGE OF:
Audiometrists screening techniques State guidelines (WACs) for auditory screening School board policies and procedures

Communicate effectively and clearly both verbally and in writing at all levels Operate a microcomputer and related software Demonstrate understanding of and experience with cultural competence Remain flexible to changes in assignments or situations; work a flexible schedule as needed Organize activities, set priorities, and follow instructions Comply with district board policies and follow administrative procedures Work cooperatively and maintain working relationships with staff, students and parents in a school environment Work at a fast pace to make sure scheduling is maintained Follow screening guidelines for large group screenings that adhere to state screening guidelines Make sound decisions and resolve staff conflicts tactfully and diplomatically Attend to detail and follow tasks through to completion Work independently and with minimal supervision Maintain strict confidentiality Establish and maintain medical records and filing systems and to prepare reports in a timely manner

JOB DESCRIPTION:
SUBSTITUTE/TEMPORARY AUDIOMETRIST AND VISION SCREENER occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to drive vehicle to various sites within the district.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in indoor conditions and regularly works near video display. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
