SUMMARY:
This position provides education assistance and support to students who are struggling academically, specifically those most at-risk of failing to meet high academic standards in reading, writing, and math. School Districts receiving Title I grants are required to set aside funds for private school student services. Title I monies cannot be transferred or given directly to the school. All Title I services must be delivered outside of core curriculum activities.

CONTEXT AND MISSION:
Highline Public Schools serves approximately 19,000 students in the communities of Burien, Des Moines, Normandy Park, SeaTac, Boulevard Park and White Center Heights in Washington State. Starting in the fall of 2012, the Highline community came together to develop a four-year strategic plan outlining the community’s bold goals and big dreams for its children. The plan’s promise is that every student in Highline Public Schools is known by name, strength, and need, and graduates prepared for college, career, and citizenship. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direction of a certificated teacher at the Private School, this person will: - Deliver student services as directed by the school and district consultation agreement - Assist in assessing student academic achievement - Assist in Evaluating student progress - Provide assessment data to district three times per school year - Provide monthly updates on student progress - Provide monthly student attendance records - Assist in Scheduling students appropriately in conjunction with Private School administrators and parents

JOB DESCRIPTION:
TEMPORARY TITLE I TUTOR FOR PRIVATE SCHOOL STUDENTS Depending on student need, services must be outside of core curriculum time and may include: - Reading, writing, or math tutoring support - One on One Tutoring - Monitoring behavior and progress during computer-assisted tutoring - Assist at Family literacy events - Early childhood programs (not currently established in Highline) - For teachers - professional development activities - For parents - parent involvement activities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
: Education and Experience AA degree or High school diploma (or equivalent) and 72 college credits or High school diploma (or equivalent) and successful completion of an approved paraeducator assessment test



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Previous experience working with children in a classroom setting

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
Criminal background clearance Pass a post-hire, pre-employment physical assessment (a requirement of substitute/temporary employment)

KNOWLEDGE OF:
Positive behavior interventions such as Check, Connect, & Expect Basic math Writing skills including grammar and punctuation Computer software applications Stages of child development and learning styles Age appropriate activities School board policies and procedures

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will constantly stand and walk, bend neck and back, use hands for repetitive grasping and pushing/pulling. The employee is frequently required to squat, kneel, use hands for fine manipulation, knee stand and push/pull. The employee will occasionally be required to sit, climb stairs/ladder, lift and reach overhead, crawl, and lift/carry. The employee must constantly lift/carry up to 10 pounds and must frequently lift /carry up to 20 pounds. The employee will occasionally lift/carry a maximum of 50 lbs. The employee is occasionally required to push/pull a maximum weight of 10 pounds. Anything over the weight limits should be done as a two-person lift or with a mechanical lift.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in indoor conditions and regularly works near video display. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
