JOB TITLE: LEADERSHIP TRAINING STAFF
GROUP: Miscellaneous Hourly
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt
WORK DAYS PER FISCAL YEAR: Varies as needed
SUMMARY: The position Leadership Training Staff will assist of training weekends for our residential outdoor education program at Waskowitz Outdoor School. Responsibilities include teaching leadership classes, facilitation of games, songs and a variety of duties required to operate a Residential Outdoor Environmental Education program. Overnight programming requires some overnight stays on selected weekends.
CONTEXT AND MISSION: Highline Public Schools serves approximately 19,000 students in the communities of Burien, Des Moines, Normandy Park, SeaTac, Boulevard Park and White Center Heights in Washington State. Starting in the fall of 2012, the Highline community came together to develop a four-year strategic plan outlining the community’s bold goals and big dreams for its children. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. - Trains and educates high school volunteer leaders for responsibilities as a leader at Waskowitz Outdoor School. - Assist educational evening and meal programs. - Assists staff, teachers and high school leaders in all camp programs that are active, fun and promote a positive all-school community. - Trail maintenance. - Teams with all camp staff and educators in residence at camp. - Respond to all emergencies at the camp. - Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION: Education and Experience High school diploma
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:: Outdoor education experience as Waskowitz Leader Some college coursework or continuing education program
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT: Criminal background clearance Washington State Driver’s license and proof of insurance First Aid/CPR Certificate Attend trainings as needed to stay current

EVALUATION: This position will be evaluated by the Director of Waskowitz or designee based on performance of duties and responsibilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will constantly bend neck and back, use hands for repetitive grasping, squat and kneel. The employee is frequently required to stand/walk/hike, sit, use hands for fine manipulation, and pushing/pulling. The employee will occasionally be required to climb stairs, lift and/or reach overhead, lie down, crawl, knee stand, and lift/carry and push/pull. JOB DESCRIPTION: LEADERSHIP TRAINING STAFF lift/carry up to 10 pounds and must frequently lift /carry up to 20 pounds. The employee will occasionally lift/carry a maximum of 50 lbs. The employee is occasionally required to push/pull a maximum weight of 10 pounds.
